Let's go bowling!

From the Office of the Governor of California
November 22, 2008

I am pleased to offer warm greetings on the occasion of your 8th Annual Charity Turkey Bowl.

For the past five years, you have helped spread Thanksgiving cheer and joy to your fellow Californians by donating turkeys and other food to families in need. I applaud the organizers for creating an event that brings professional and recreational bowlers together to enjoy this entertaining sport while supporting a worthy cause.

I also commend you for sponsoring drug education and public safely programs for local youth. Your devotion to your community is a force of good in the Golden State.

Please accept my best wishes for a memorable event and every continued success.

Sincerely,
Arnold Schwarzenegger

The "Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Bowling" program is a great chance for kids to come together this summer in a wholesome, fun, community based activity.  I am honored to endorse this program, and hope that it continues to attract young people from our community!

I just want to thank you for your free summer bowling program for children (Say No to Drugs)!  It is a great benefit for all age levels and enjoyed immensely by my children, their friends, and schoolmates.  What a great way to positively impact our kids and our community!  Thank you so much for your generosity and investment in our children.  Please provide the program again next year.

Sincerely,

Hi there, The summer bowling program is a GREAT opportunity for kids. My boys didn't get to do as many games as they would have liked due to our schedule, but they were excited and had a GREAT time each time they were able to go. Thank you for making this available to the children so that they have a SAFE, FUN activity to keep them off the streets or for sitting at home bored and wondering what they could do. I hope you'll continue this in the upcoming years.

Sincerely,
Veronica

Yes, keep it up for next year! Even though my daughter and her friend didn't improve much, they really enjoyed the outing. I'm going to check with Good Shepherd in January to see if we can't get them to participate.  I saw that San Francisco School District supported it so we'll see what I can do for next year to help you spread the program. Thanks for offering this to the kids, they really look forward to it.

I think the program was great. I went with my friends one time and it was so much fun, even though that was like the only time i had to use it cuz i wasnt sure of the bus route to there from my house. im sure lots of kids would like it if u did the program again, i know me and all my friends had fun with it, and it did keep us out of boredom, and boredom is what leads to drugs i think...although i know drugs are bad and ill never use them  and same with my friends, cuz at my school theyve been brainwashing us with all the drugs are evil stuff since like first grade.

I cannot tell you how this program has benefited my children. We come 3 times a week and they wish it could be more! My children 7 and 5 just love it. We signed them up for the 4 week bag and ball program, and even signed up for a league at their request. They have learned so much, not just bowling skills, but taking turns, waiting, playing together. They have improved quite a bit since they started.

I hope you continue with this program next summer. I hope you could even extend it to the holidays breaks. Winter and Spring break weeks would be great to keep them interested. Not that mine need it, since they are in a league now, but for others that cant do a league.

Thank you for this great program!

I absolutely love the "Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Bowling" program!  The summer of 2004 when you had just about the same program, I went bowling EVERY weekday for about 5 weeks!  I was becoming quite the bowler!  This year I haven't had as much time, but I'm sure others are going bowling as often as possible as well.  Thanks for the program!  Bowling is my anti-drug. ;)

Ashley Acuff

Yes, we loved the summer bowling program.  Please do it again next year.

Lisa

I just want to say "thank you" for the kids program this summer.  I know personally that my children enjoyed themselves, to continue this program is only a positive move in my eyes, it would be great if programs like this could be throughout the school year (winter/spring breaks), it's only a thought.  Thank you again and we look forward to visiting you soon.

Sincerely,

Janine Dufficy
